8 weeks and Beyond… Postpartum Update

Hi my lovelies!

Happy New Year and hope 2018 has been good to you so far…

It is 5am in the morning, baby kept me up and is now asleep🙄 so I’m looking through my mountain of draft posts and found this almost-complete one👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

Hope we are all having a lovely week and looking forward to Halloween and Christmas (10/11 weeks to go!).

So the other day,  I woke up to an email from work (seem like my recent posts is around morning notifications haha), anywho it was from my boss to the whole team asking us to book some time with him in November to discuss our MBOs (it’s basically our half-yearly performance assessment but none of us know the full meaning).

Before I left for maternity leave, HR had advised to “keep in touch” with work and maybe log into laptop once a month to get Microsoft updates and ensure I have my performance review discussion during the leave. I’m now two months into my maternity leave and it feels weird that I thought I would be able to keep up with this after having a baby (plus my bubbly 4year old)…

Well my sleep-deprived, milk-producing self didn’t let me post this so imagine how I felt reading an email I’m required to respond to (I did respond after 3wks haha) Anywho, my baby is now 5 months old and I’m only about 2% ready to go back to do anything work-related😆

My priorities now include {in no particular order}: ensuring I spend some quality time with my older daughter, making sure baby does tummy time, extra-curricular activities for big Sister, baby swimming, baby massage, prepare baby (& myself) for the weaning period, and be consistent with creating content for my blog and YouTube channel! So much to do and think about, and to think I had my first daughter in nursery at 6months old because of work (maternity leave in Ireland is for 6 months)

P.S. I’m completing this post through glazed eyes and sheer determination….

Until next time my loves, it’s yours truly

  1. Wow you have given us loads to think about momma! Taking care of two little ones is no joke o. Don’t feel too worried about being out of tune with work, happens to all mammies, despite the best of intentions. Enjoy the rest of your mat leave, work will be there when you go back!

  2. Thanks so much for the kind words Oyinda🙏🏽 you truly never know how you would cope with a situation until you are in it, I’m just trying to have fun with it all until the “real” work starts😩

  3. I know when they mean keep in touch they are not really expecting anyone to keep in touch. Hope you are getting your rest now? The Joys of motherhood, well done for juggling everything. Cant wait for next post.
